Description
Premium bare corrosion-resisting chromium-nickel-molybdenum TIG welding rod for high-volume professional welding. This 5kg pack delivers exceptional value for fabrication shops and industrial projects requiring consistent ER316L filler metal.
Premium Corrosion Resistance
Molybdenum-enhanced with 2.0–3.0% Mo content outperforms standard 308L rods in acid and chlorinated environments. Low carbon at 0.03% max prevents intergranular corrosion from carbide precipitation. High-temperature service rated up to 870°C with excellent creep resistance.
Technical Specifications
AWS Classification ER316L / A5.9. EN ISO 14343 W 19 12 3L. Diameter 1.6mm. Packaging 5kg with approximately 39-inch cut lengths. Shielding gas 100% Argon with DCEN polarity. Alloy type 19% Cr, 12% Ni, 3% Mo, low carbon.
Chemical Composition
Typical values: Carbon 0.01%, Chromium 18.2%, Nickel 12.0%, Molybdenum 2.6%, Manganese 1.7%, Silicon 0.4%.
Recommended Applications
Chemical and petrochemical processing for tanks, reactors, and pipelines handling acids and chlorides. Food and beverage manufacturing for high-volume equipment requiring food grade corrosion resistance. Pharmaceutical production for large-scale piping systems. Shipbuilding and marine for hull structures and deck equipment exposed to seawater. Power generation for high-temperature steam lines. Architectural metalwork for large stainless structures.
Base Metal Compatibility
Suitable for AISI 316 and 316L stainless steels. Compatible with AISI 318 and stabilized grades 316Ti and 316Nb. For dissimilar joints between 316 and carbon steel, use ESAB 309L filler rod.
Welding Parameters
For 1mm to 2mm material thickness use 60 to 90 amps with 8 to 12 liters per minute argon flow. For 2mm to 4mm material use 90 to 130 amps with 10 to 15 liters per minute. For 4mm to 6mm material use 120 to 160 amps with 12 to 18 liters per minute.
Storage and Handling
Keep sealed in original packaging until use to prevent moisture absorption. Store at 15 to 25 degrees Celsius with less than 60% relative humidity. Rotate stock first in first out. Once opened, use rod ovens at 120 to 150 degrees Celsius for high-humidity environments or critical applications.
